The world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve is a huge expanse of tawny, sunburnt grasslands pocked with acacia trees and river woodlands, and heaving with animals great and small. Impressive at any time of year, it’s at its best between July and October when a million migrating wildebeest and tens of thousands of topis, zebras and other animals pour into the reserve from Tanzania in search of fresh grass. It is, arguably, the most spectacular wildlife show on the planet and the one thing that no visitor to Kenya should consider missing.
Lake Nakuru is among Kenya’s finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. Rising water levels in 2014 forced the park’s famous flamingos to flee although a small number have returned.
Highlights
Leave Nairobi for Lake Nakuru after breakfast. Arrive at around 11.00 AM and embark on game drives en route to the hotel. Watch out for baboons, zebras, gazzelles, antelopes, topis, giraffes, buffalos, rhinos and if lucky lions and leopards. Along the shores you will be able to spot pelicans and other birds that reside in the water. We have our lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. We shall spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the hotel before embarking on a late afternoon game drive visiting Makalia Falls, Lake nakuru View point and the southern part of the lake where we shall be looking for flamingos.
We return for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

We have our breakfast and leave with game viewing en route. Our next destination will be the famous Masai mara national reserve. We shall have brief stops en route before arriving at Masai Mara AA Lodge for lunch. We end out for our first game drive in the Mara at 4.00 PM exploring the beautiful savannas where all kind of wild animals inahabit. Its easy to spot lions and other cats here. At dusk we drive back to our lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

This day of Safari adventure is exclusively spent in the Maasai Mara. We look out for the park’s Big Cats, the Big Five and the abundance of wildlife and natural wonders found in Kenya’s most famous game reserve. Remember to keep a sharp lookout; you may witness a dramatic hunt, a solitary Leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree, or a herd of Elephants protecting their young from predators. The Maasai Mara has one of the richest wildlife ensembles in the world, hosting over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Game viewing is never dull here, and patience is usually rewarded with unique sightings.
Between July and October (usually best in July and August), we can witness the famous Wildebeest and Zebra migration from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara. A massive accumulation of 1.5 million Wildebeest, 200,000 Zebras and 350,000 Gazelles stretches their legs over 2000km in an annual race to find enough water and green grass for their survival.

We wake up early for a spectacular morning game drive. The Maasai Mara has been the setting of the well-known movie ‘Out of Africa’. Its astonishing wildlife is the star of the show, providing drama and intrigue against the backdrop of a spectacular scenery.
Fueled by our impressions, we take breakfast in the mid-morning hours. After breakfast, we start our journey back to Nairobi. In Nairobi, our driver safely brings you back to your hotel or the airport. Your Safari ends here, but you take home a smile and a lifetime of memories – that much is certain!
