As the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing, the Maasai Mara National park (The Mara) is one of Africa’s most standard safari tourism destinations. The Park is situated in the Great Rift Valley in mainly open parkland.
The Big Five members Loin, leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, white and black rhinos are found throughout the year. The grasslands between the Mara River and Soit Ololol Escarpment are best for game viewing, especially for cheetah and loins.
Roughly 95 types of amphibians, reptiles, and mammals and over 450 species are found in Maasai Mara national park. The Maasai people, a migrated tribe, are customary inhabitants of the land. There are two lodges within Mara Triangle boundaries, commonly known as the Mara Serena Lodge and Little Governors Camp. The best season to visit Maasai Mara Park is between July
and October, during wild animals migration.
